Kevin Feeney
Kevin Feeney has been aggressively defending people charged with crimes since 1991.He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Westminster College, New Wilmington, PA in 1986, and received his Juris Doctorate degree from the Dickinson School of Law, Carlisle, PA in 1990. Mr. Feeney continued as a law clerk for President Judge Albert E. Acker of the Mercer County Court of Common Pleas, Mercer, PA.
As a Senior Trial Attorney with Berks County Public Defender’s Office, Mr. Feeney successfully defended jury trials of all major criminal charges including homicide, sexual assault, robbery and weapons offenses. He has successfully defended clients in Megan’s Law hearings and all manner of pre-trial motions, including suppression of evidence and habeas corpus. He has defended cases with DNA and electronic surveillance evidence.
Mr. Feeney is qualified to handle death penalty cases under the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s high standards for defense counsel.
Jacob Gurwitz
Jacob Gurwitz received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Political Science from the University of Texas at Dallas, where he attended on a full chess scholarship and became the student body president. He later received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, Philadelphia, PA, and also received the James J. Manderino Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy as the top trial advocate in his class. During law school, he headed the pro bono Unemployment Compensation Project, training fellow law students to be effective advocates on behalf of individuals seeking their unemployment benefits. While working in the Berks County Public Defender's Office, Mr. Gurwitz defended clients in criminal charges including receipt of stolen property, possession of a firearm without a license, aggravated assault, auto theft, and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
In 2008, Mr. Gurwitz has successfully represented clients in gun-point robbery, aggravated assault, terroristic threats, child molestation, and simple assault jury trials. In pre-trial motions, he successfully challenged and caused the dismissal of a burglary charge, a five-year mandatory minimum Possession with Intent to Deliver charge, and a resisting arrest charge.
